We’re happy to announce our newest contest! It’s quick and simple to enter, simply leave a comment on this blog post answering the following question:

Where is the strangest place you’ve practiced yoga?

We want you to keep it clean, but we’d love to hear all the strangely wonderful places you’ve experienced yoga. Did you try triangle in an airplane bathroom on the way to India? Did you go into down dog before a board meeting? Or did you escape to the bathroom during a dinner with your in laws to relax in child’s pose? We’re very curious to know.

The winner will be announced on St. Patrick’s Day & we’ve pictured the shirt here in the post, valued at $34.00 (+free U.S. shipping) from Urban Yoga. It’s super cute and happens to be green! Entries will be judged on originality, honesty, and relatability.

Best of luck! We look forward to hearing from you?

  1. in the labor and delivery room with the birth of my fourth child. Did yoga on the ball, to help open up the pelvis. Plus meditative walking to quicken the labor process.

  2. Enjoyed yoga in a couple of cooky places; in the dining hall at a Girl Scout camp I ran last summer, and more recently in The North Face. I needed some refreshing so I broke out Lord of the Dance and Tree Pose. It made my day, like always.

  3. I went on an amazing trip in Costa Rica about 2 years ago and everything about the place inspired relaxation. We were staying at a wonderful Eco-lodge called the Iguana Lodge on the Osa Penninsula. The temperature was insanely hot and for the entire week I was perspiring profusely. It was almost too hot to sit on the beach, so there was a covered raised platform with some hammocks and chairs and mats for excercising. I took the opportunity to practice some yoga poses, and the humidity really helped my flexibility! However the heat was such that I couldn’t do too many poses at once… so after a shoulder stand and a head stand, I called it a day. But I’ll never forget the gorgeous breeze off the ocean, the waves crashing on the beach nearby and the relaxation of doing the yoga in such a peaceful environment!

  4. I have been known to pull out Dancer’s Pose just about anywhere. Most notably, at my previous job (in the middle of a busy retail store). I love the way it opens my hips up, especially after standing on my feet all day! I occasionally get strange looks, but I don’t mind 🙂

  5. well, the strangest place i’ve done/do yoga is in the shower. (lemme explain) it’s not easy shaving legs in the shower, yeah? well, yoga seems to come in handy, as long as you have a slip free tub; otherwise, i say: DO NOT TRY. it’s similar as extended hand to big toe pose. hey, it works! i also tend to throw in a few standing twists and side bends, as well. *grins and shrugs*
